Hello, I’m Vaughan de Kirby. I’m an investment immigration attorney based here in San Francisco. Congress has in fact extended EB-5 until September 30th, as it exists now. And President Trump has signed that into law. It was part of a continuing resolution, which funded 1.1 trillion dollars in the federal budget. So EB-5 was just a small portion, really tacked on the in of the continuing resolution.
But what is very important for you to know if you’re thinking about EB-5 is that there’re anticipated changes before September 30th. There’re more than two bills, two solid bills in Congress right now, to change EB-5 dramatically. One of the key changes will be raising the investment amount to 800,000.
Now I want you to know this, because if you think you’re going to wait till September, it could be a mistake. I would recommend that you speak with your Investment Immigration attorney or your agent as soon as possible, because we don’t know how the laws are going to change. We do know that USCIS has already begun making changes. They have even said that they were going to raise the investment amount to 1.35 million. So if a Green Card is important to you, now is the time to act. And I hope that’s helpful advice.
