Hello, I’m Vaughan de Kirby, Investment Immigration Attorney based here in San Francisco. We have just experienced the longest government shutdown in history – 35 days. And this effectively shut down EB-5 for that same period of time. We continued to work closely with our clients and we’ve been able to file our applications now that it is open.
What should you do with this information? Because you have a shutdown that you just experienced, which gives you a lot of anxiety, and then you have a very short-term extension. Well let’s put that aside and look at the reality.
The reality is that EB-5 will be extended (again). Will it be extended on February 15th? I’m not sure, but it should be extended then or very shortly thereafter.
So if EB-5 is important to you, don’t let the government shutdown and the short-term extension discourage you. Talk to your Investment Immigration Attorney; see that you move forward with your application. You won’t make your investment unless there is a program, so there is no risk to you. And I recommend you move forward because that way you can take advantage of this great program before, in the future, we see raises in the investment amount or other changes that could make it much more difficult.
Please feel free to contact us or call 415-221-2345 if you have any questions on EB-5. We look forward to working with you. Thank you!
