A: You must demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself (and any dependents) while in school. While on a student visa, your working options are very limited. In general you may only work on campus during the first year of studies, and if you wish to work off campus after the first year, you must prove you have a severe economic hardship. Accordingly, one must show that you have the money you'll need, or that you will have another source of income that doesn't entail any employment or work while in the United States, such as financial support from parents.
