An opening statement by the Chairman of the Committee, Lamar Smith, highlighted the responsibility of Congress to create jobs and how the EB-5 program, particularly the regional centers, can play a key part in achieving this goal.
Congressman Smith emphasized that the regional center program has created an estimated 65,000 jobs and attracted over $3 billion dollars in investment funds to the U.S. In difficult economic times, he emphasized, state and local governments can look to regional centers as partners in generating economic growth.
